Sophie Gantz - Lead Teacher
Ms. Sophie grew up in Santa Barbara and started creating art in her early childhood, a love that continues to this day. As a child, if she wasn’t creating art, you could find her with her nose in a book, hiking, or spending time at the beach. At Santa Barbara High School, she was an active member of the Visual Arts and Design Academy.
She graduated from Chapman University with a BS in Environmental Science and a minor in Art. After college, Ms. Sophie traveled, including a three-month journey in a camper van through New Zealand where she became interested in their school system and teaching. Back in Santa Barbara, she started SBCC’s early childhood education program, and within a few weeks, she "knew what I wanted to do” and became a preschool teacher.
It is Cathedral Oaks Preschool’s “feeling of positive energy and loving environment” that led her to join COP.
